Hello! My name is Stone Belvin and I’ve been a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast for over a decade now.

I realized several years into MB ownership that a majority of these cars have inoperable or malfunctioning tachs, speedometers, and clocks. It was always a chore to find someone to repair them and what information I could find was inconsistent to say the least. So, I took it upon myself to learn how to rebuild and repair them. 

I have a background in engineering which has helped me considerably with the electronics side of things and already had some aptitude for the circuitry, so the learning curve wasn’t as steep. 

So here I am. Ready to serve and help keep these cars in the best shape they can be. 

I currently service most clusters from the early 1900’s through the early 1990’s, including but not limited to: Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, Porsche, Volkswagen, Rolls-Royce, Audi, Ferrari, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and more.

Up to the task

This cluster was for a 190 SL that the owner had made it a personal challenge to see how far gone a car could be and still be brought back. This car had obvious and severe water damage, so much so that the ‘big name’ repair shops laughed at him and said “Just get a new one!”
When he contacted me, he expected to be laughed at again, but he said “If these gauges can be brought back, I’ve been told you are the guy who can do it.” I told him to send them in and I would see what I can do.

When I opened the box I thought, “oh my goodness. Those are really bad.”
The owner had already sourced one face and one glass, but I still had to source a core, a face, a needle and a couple of gears.

The gears were NLA but I was able to source them out of Poland and Hungary. I reached out to the forums and members of the car community, and that was extremely helpful in sourcing the pieces I needed.

I was able to save, refurbish and use 80-90% of the tachometer components and 60-70% of the speedometer’s – including the original housings, cages, glass, and one of the needles. The components that couldn’t be saved were simply so far gone with rust they disintegrated during disassembly.

Nevertheless, even when the big names will turn you down and say “get a new one” I will do my best to give your gauges a second chance.
